Sermon Outline for Bulletin
Acts - Nominations!
Acts 1:12-26
We come to the part of
the text where the current apostles must replace Judas who has hung
himself. The scriptures today give us
some very good guidelines for bringing on leaders to oversee the church. They talked it over with the 120 in the upper
room; then they prayed and waited for God’s response. Sounds like a good model for us to follow –
not only in church, but in our jobs, our families and in our walk with Jesus.

Conclusion: As much as modern
Christians love to talk about successes, sometimes the failures of the church
need airing. Peter’s explanation of
Judas’ failure offers us a look at the difference between apostasy and
backsliding. Peter was a temporary
backslider when he denied the Savior at the time of the crucifixion. Judas was an apostate: He revealed his true
nature – an unbeliever by his behavior in betraying Jesus. I John 2:18-19
1. James 5:16 – Don’t live in your sickness of despair
another day!
2. Philippians 1:27 – Conduct yourself in a worthy
manner.
